Link Exchange?
My ongoing experiment with Search Engine Optimization continues and since I usually take Saturdays to look at the stats and pretty much take it easy but today, looking into the awesome WordPress link shenanigans it has that there are a bunch of blogs linking here so I thought I’d do the right thing and give them the reciprocal link since they’re all sites I visit and enjoy quite a bunch. This got me to thinking, though: what if I started a link exchange program? At least on this site since it’s the easiest of the ones I look after to pimp out (Daigoro is hell to add on directories since it’s bilingüal and the Porto Diao portal isn’t even a blog to begin with) and visitors can quite easily browse the other blogs on the network with ease, which is one of the purposes of PD in the first place.
I haven’t given this much thought yet, but toying with the idea I see how it could work, totally. For example, ever since Hoja de Bijao started a blog I’ve wanted to ask if I could do a link exchange with them, not just for me but for the network as well. What I’m wondering is, would they go for it? I always try to earn my accolades and recognition because I think that for someone to recognize your merits, in this case by linking to your site and sending their visitors to you, without you asking them for it is a testament to what great work you’re doing, and I find that very humbling and gratifying. I love to think I’ve earned it. Still, asking for a link and being accepted is also incredibly great because I feel that my work is respected and whoever I’m asking feels that my voice should be heard, and that, in turn, is another one of Porto Diao’s goals: to give people the chance to be heard. To continue the example of Hoja de Bijao, I love what they’re doing and I’d like to somehow slip both myself and Porto Diao in their movement since I think that PD has grown ridiculously fast and I can honestly say, beyond any doubts, that the network is a unique voice in Panama as far as the Internet is concerned. And I believe that after the Birriafest is done it’ll get even bigger (hopefully, anyway… every dad wants his devilishly handsome kid to surpass him) and I want to take advantage of that and do the great, original things I have in mind for both Panama and the PD Network. Hopefully I’ll be able to do both and from the looks of it things are promising… but I digress.
Bottom line is: if you’re a blogger, would you like to do a link exchange? I’m always looking for interesting stuff to read! I don’t want to add this into my reasons for trying this out with people I don’t know (even though that’s one of the reasons the Internet exists: to bring people closer together, no matter how far the distance) but, as many a blog directory has told me, it helps both parties to be seen… I suppose it’s a win-win situation in all aspects. I don’t know. What do you think? Drop me a line, stranger!
