Porto Diao Zombie Walk 2007 Video Recap
I have returned! After a short absence (alright, so I took a little more than a month… big whoop) I’m slowly taking back the reign of things. One of the reasons why I’ve been quiet this long is, in part, due to this year’s Zombie Walk, which was organized by the Porto Diao group. The stakes were higher this year, the bar had been raised and I wanted for us to provide the best possible experience for all of those who gave us the vote of confidence and went that night. After a couple of interviews here and there as well as some extensive planning by part of the PD crew, October 31st, 2007 was a night for the record books. It’s encouraged me even more to keep doing what I first set out to do when I started this little fiesta, and I hope you like (and participate) in our future shenanigans as well.
Since it’s been more than 2 weeks already and I could talk about how awesome that night was for days, I leave you now with the PD video recap of the goings-on that night. Just like in the 2006 Zombie Walk, we started off on the Urraca Park, yet for this year we had extended the trajectory and moved further into the city with Lighthouse Rock Bar as our last stop, where The Crimson Ghost (a Misfits tribute band headlined by members of famous Panamanian bands Rencilla and Radicales Libres) played a 17-song set list chockful of punk greats. Attendance reached almost 200 people of all shapes, creeds and sizes, with fire breathers (or THE Firebreather with Karcamo, LXN wrestling superstar) and PanamaRiders.net making sure nobody messed with the zombie horde as they terrorized Panama city in search for live flesh. There were also various Internet and TV outlets covering the event, be it under PortoDiao.com permission (wassup, JSpotPanama.com!) or without it (I saw this guy from a Medcom TV show trying to interview the zombies. He failed miserably). There were some hot models trying to smooch publicity off the horde to sell some energy drinks. Everybody had to do something with us that night, and that’s exactly what I wanted.
You can search around the Panamanian blogosphere or on Facebook and you can find out first-hand accounts on how much fun was had that night. For those of you who are still curious, then… here’s the video. Enjoy.

Good post. You make some great points that most people do not fully understand.

I like how you explained that. Very helpful. Thanks.
