Queens of the Stone Age - “Go With The Flow” Posted on August 21st

I’m night posting! In the process of updating Daigoro at the moment but I thought I’d just do another one of these “music picks” pieces I keep doing for no particular reason other than to make y’all hear some honest-to-God good music. Next up is a song by California-based band Queens of the Stone Age… the track is called “Go with the Flow.” I suppose that looking at the lyrics of the songs I’ve been posting it’s pretty evident that I like songs that talk about strong men who are blindsided by even stronger women. How do you subdue a strong person? Simple: you ignore them. I’ve learned this the hard way and as a result I don’t even need to listen to the lyrics to the song for me to like them; I usually find out afterwards and go “oh…” as I marvel in the beautiful coincidences brought forth by circumstance. This song is part of their 2002 album Songs for the Deaf and their most popular track (at least the one that got them on the map) was “No One Knows,” another great track from the record. In fact, while you’re looking for that torrent file you might or might not be searching for at the moment go ahead and download the whole thing… if the song/video don’t convince you, then I don’t know what will. Anyway, eat up my bandwidth and get the song. Lyrics below:

Lyrics

She said “I’ll throw myself away,
They’re just photos after all”
I can’t make you hang around.
I can’t wash you off my skin.
Outside the frame, is what we’re leaving out
You won’t remember anyway
I can go with the flow
But don’t say it doesn’t matter anymore
I can go with the flow
Do you believe it in your head?
It’s so safe to play along
Little soldiers in a row
Falling in and out of love
With something sweet to throw away.
But I want something good to die for
To make it beautiful to live.
I want a new mistake, lose is more than hesitate.
Do you believe it in your head?
I can go with the flow
But don’t say it doesn’t matter anymore
I can go with the flow
Do you believe it in your head?

The new Queens of the Stone Age album, entitled “Era Vulgaris,” is like a targeted cruise missile: it comes in hard and fast, unavoidable and precise in its desire to destroy it all. Unapologetic. The album is a lot of this, and a “greatest hits” of rhythms found in their...
