Rob Rivera on SuperCine.net Posted on April 6th

My plan for world dominance climbed a big leap up this week when I stepped out of the Batcave for some sun on this Holy Friday (expect a Panama Tourist Guide entry on the subject to rock your socks off tomorrow) and lo and behold, my review of “300” is published in SuperCine.net! You can read the review (in Spanish. Sorry, Enlgish-speakers. You should really learn the language ‘cuz it’s like, so hawt right now) by clicking here. SuperCine.net is part of the Geekvoice network, who is in cahoots with Porto Diao ever since the latter arrived in this honky-tonk town.

The impressions I expressed in this past entry are expanded in the SuperCine.net review, as well as a more in-depth look at the history of Frank Miller’s work on film. As I said in the piece right off the bat, “300” encompasses 3 things I’m very fascinated with: comic books, movies and the Greco-Roman era. I don’t know what you’re still doing here, when you should be over at Super Cine already! Hopefully this will be the first of many reviews I’ll do for the site, since I had a lot of fun writing a movie review and in Spanish, I might add. Since I’m running on turtle power as of late and nostalgia is a feeling that lingers for a long time, I will use the momentum to take a stab at “TMNT” next. After that, a bunch of obscure movies I know of that everyone (and I do mean everyone) should see at least once in their life.

Before I wish you a happy Easter weekend, here’s an Easter egg for you: I went to the bathroom not long ago today because my colon felt the need to send out a very important fax and when I went into the communal bathroom there was someone in the stall next to the throne I chose to place my tuckus on for some close encounters of the toilet kind. I didn’t see this person, but I did hear a startle when I opened the door; is it just me, or Panamanians or Latinos or is it on a global scale that people feel very uncomfortable when they take dumps on a public bathroom? The guy was sitting on the john, so unless he’s taken his gayness to the next level and thought it’d be neat to pee sitting down, it’s safe to say he was there for the same reasons I was. Seeing this as an opportunity for a very special social experiment, I quickly entered my stall with the intent of being the loudest toileteer in the history of bathroom stalls. Instead of staying, sadly, he buckled up and walked out. He didn’t even wash his hands! Dirty, dirty man.

Are people really uncomfortable with the concept of taking dumps in public bathrooms? We men piss in stalls next to each other all the frickin’ time and there’s no problem there. Food for thought, I suppose.

With that image in your mind, I wish you a very peaceful Easter weekend. If you’re going to the Panamanian interior then please take it easy on the road… you’re supposed to be in church praising your god in the first place, so behave yourself.

  1. Hey that reminds me of the conversation that Butter and I were having while in line to see 300! I think you were busy at the arcade or something….but well Miss Rita and I were being schooled by Butter on public bathroom etiquette for men…it was FASCINATING. Ask him - he’ll tell ya all about it…

  2. Happy Easter! I can’t see people should be uncomfortable with public dumpings, afterall it should be expected given a facility has been built for that very purpose! Look forward to your new entry.
