I have a splitting headache and it’s making me very cranky. On top of that, I took a pill to supposedly cure the feeling of being consistently hit over the head by Beta Ray Bill and his massive hammer but all it’s done is add drowsiness and the nagging feeling of wanting to vomit. Fan-tastic. This newly-acquired sense of perception, then, has made my uncanny ability of acute perception totally unreliable for as long as I continue with the headache and nausea. With that in mind, there will not be a devilishly significant dose of wit and sarcasm you know me for; instead, I’m going to mention something that’s been bothering me all morning before this incredibly thrilling development… that of apartment hunting.

Mommy, wow! I’m a big kid now! So I’m looking for a place to stay that is semi-furnished and around the Via Argentina/Cangrejo area because I want hot stripper neighbors. Seriously though, that’s not the primary reason but more of a nitpick: the reality of things is that Via Argentina and the surrounding El Cangrejo neighborhood is full of foreigners from South America, North America and Europe… it’s the liberty of culture that attracts me to the place and I feel it’ll be a shoe-in for me. So what’s a guy in my position to do, one that would make every transaction he has to do over the Internet if possible? Well, find sites that list properties for sale, of course.

Since the Panamanian internet construct is mostly composed of people who know for a fact that English is more so a universal language than Spanish is (though it’s getting there: ironically, there are much more countries in the world that have Spanish as its primary language, yet English is considered the universal one. Go figure. It’s cool that people are catching up with the times and realizing Latin Americans are taking over every corner of the world by sheer numbers. We’re everywhere), luckily there are sites out there that are bilingual, most notably Encuentra24.com. Not even this one is primarily in English though, so I decided to scour the web a little more to see if what I could find. There has to be a place that’s focused towards foreigners who are looking to buy or rent property in Panama without having to make phone calls to real estate agents and what not. I’d rather write an email than make a phone call when the circumstances to do both at the same time present themselves… so where would I go?

The results of my search brought this one site… the only one. Even though it seems like it’s just getting started, I’m happy to say that the initiative the team behind ProntoPanama.com has taken is excellent; 2 clicks after my landing I was already seeing a property I’d love to live in. As I said, it just opened it seems, so they’re in the process of bulking up their property repertoire; I wonder if they’d be interested in advertising on some silly guy’s blog about Panama. Hmm…

The interface is simple to use and soothing to the eyes, the latter certified by the monumental headache that is beating its drums inside my skull. It’s great to see pictures of the properties offered because as it is I can’t read a damn thing without my eyeballs feeling like they’re going to deflate. Another cool feature I’ve noticed is that posting your very own property is simple, as well. Signing up hooks you to their database where you can add your listing in just a few steps; just be thorough in your description and for the love of Marley please include pictures. Rob likes to look at pictures and Rob likes it when he sees pictures of the prospective apartments he wants to check out. If you own a property you want to buy, rent or sell, I suggest you check out Pronto Panama and help it grow so that people like me can find a groovy place he can rig with webcams and other essentials to the 21st century bachelor pad.

Now, if there were only more sites like this one out there. Someone care to help a brother out?
