Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Posted on July 22nd

YES. Y-E-S, yes. YES. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back on the big screen with this, a CGI movie that will come out to theaters in 2006. If you’re under 15 or have been living under a rock all thse years, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the story of four hard-shelled brothers who, after accidentally running into a a crazy mutagen substance it mutates their bodies to acquire human-like traits, like arms and legs and the ability to talk. Along with their adopted father/sensei “Splinter,” who mutated into an overgrown rat with said mutagen “ooze,” they train in the arts of the Ninja for many years, each one of the specializing on a certain technique. Most of us got acquainted with Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo from their 1980’s cartoon of the same name, and it was great fun: I was all over that shit when it came out, so much so that I dressed up as Donatello and Raphael, respectively, for 2 consecutive years… green makeup and turtle shell included. After a trilogy of movies (the third one sucking more than a vacuum cleaner) we’re treated to this little gem and I. Can’t. Fucking. Wait:

I used to have the comics. Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” was a lot grittier than the cartoon would lead you to believe. In fact, the new cartoon that’s been airing for the past couple of seasons is the most accurate portrayal of the original story since they made a place for themselves in popular culture back in the 1980’s. I had their blimp. They had a blimp and I had the toy of said blimp… it was huge and awesome. Anyway, for the sake of the good ol’ days here’s a link to a guy who sat through the TMNT trilogy simultaneously, with notes. Enjoy the trailer.
