The Great Malware Attack of Mid 2009

Rob Rivera in PanamaI was on a self-imposed “vacation” in early August of 2009 given that it was my birthday (August 4th for those keeping tally at home) and, well, it’s my life and I’ll bamf out if I want to. The repercussions of removing myself from the equation without much warning or notice are not what I’ll write about in this quick nilly, but I do feel I have to explain what happened to this here website during the month of August, given that it was down and out for practically all of it. I’ll try to explain in the most hilarious way I can without wanting to punch a baby, and just like with a baby, I’ll try to keep it simple in a way that a doorknob can understand what happened. Of course this will help me as well, considering I still don’t really know what happened and what I did to fix it.

So, there’s this thing called malware. Malware is bad. The Cobra Commanders of the internet world use malware to put ads or link to sites where there are viruses. Recently, this site was “attacked” and someone slipped in through the kitchen, leaving pieces of code that would lead to very bad places if you were to find them. So, Google, in its great wisdom, saw this and placed a warning of it. I didn’t know of this until I got back. There were too many fires going on at once though, all of them caused because I was away, so I didn’t have the time to get up on this until now.

The site is malware-free, and you can continue enjoying this storyteller’s verbose without any danger. I’ll try to be more proficient. Now, because I love you and appreciate the emails wondering where I was and what had happened in my little chunk of the internet, I leave you with this. It’s Jill Scott on the Def Poetry Jam, reciting the poem “Ain’t A Ceiling” in song.
