The Science of Picking the Right Cologne for Men
I never was one to put too much thought in things such as grooming. Not to sound like a clobbering neanderthal, but I always put priority to other things such as making sure I wore my shoes on the right feet and no eye goop before leaving the house. I also made sure I smelled well, but getting the right scent was never one on my checklist. My mom would kindly take care of that solely because I wouldn’t and, using her own sensibilities, directed me to a sort of search radius I could use. She would factor in things like personality, my job, the things I like to do and how I project myself. In the end, she figured that strong, outdoorsy scents would suit me best, with a touch of caramel or something. I don’t really know what I said back there, but it’s one of those things that simply makes sense to me now.
Seeing that I’ve finally gotten off my ass on a number of things that I had left on layaway, I thought it’d be a good moment to go cologne hunting since I’m all out of mine and body spray only does so much. I’ve never bothered to look online for fragrances and I feel like an idiot for not doing so; the prices online are ridiculously low compared to retail! One of the reasons why buying a cologne was such a chore was because it was such a hit to my wallet that it wouldn’t talk to me for days. Browsing about, though, I saw that the prices were more than reasonable. In the end, I decided to go with Azzaro Pure Lavender for Men. The nice lady at the perfume parlor place I went to for field research said it complemented me because I looked “peligrosamente sexy” (dangerously sexy).
I don’t know what Lavender has to do with sexyness, but it smells like something I’d wear so screw it. I was on my own, and since I usually have a female companion (be it my mom, my girlfriend or a, uhm… girl friend) whilst doing these things I was a little more gullible than usual. I think it’s the right choice though, because pansy wansy smells don’t go with me. Heh. As if lavender scent sounds like Steve McQueen in a bottle, right?
We’ll see how this goes. I’m gonna try to blog more often since the blog entries are now less intrusive in the overall layout. As long as you don’t mind me writing about trivial shit, I’ll keep posting it.
