There’s Nothing to Say on Saturdays
I had a kickass post ready since yesterday but the server’s power outage kind of made it get lost forever. I think it was a sign from Marley to keep shut on the matter I was addressing in the piece but the fact stands that it’s what I get for not saving every 30 seconds. I don’t doubt that I won’t have to address it again, though… so I will when the time comes, I suppose. In the meantime, it seems I’m spreading myself thin (as I’ve said many a time before) but I’m slowly getting back on the saddle of things. As it seems, I’m gonna go with some friends to the Patronales de Santiago; I don’t think I’ve ever talked about hor Carnivals are here in Panama, at least not conclusively… but in a nutshell, it’s a big fair set in the interior of the country and those are always a good time. Like Carnivals but much more calmed down. I’m looking forward to the time off and having a good time with friends. Anyway, last night we recorded Episode 4 of the Smoth Loves Movies podcast and it was great fun, as always: we covered The Kracken, The Fountain, The Descent and a few other things that have “The” in front of them. Also I met up with the creator and other editor of Almanaque Azul and we discussed future plans. For those who are not in the AA mailing list, there’s going to be an Almanaque Azul radio show saturdays at 11AM on Radio 10; we hope you tune in and check it out. Also, it seems that the project is finally getting some wind under its wings and you’ll start seeing a stronger presence in the public eye, which is always great so stay tuned for that.
Also, The Porto Diao Network continues to grow: earlier this week 2SXC decided to take a bite out of the bolgosphere pie and create “Rants, Dreams and Aspirations,” or RDA for short. The premise of this one is how exactly a foreigner and Panama interact, and so far its produced some downright hilarious results that people should know about… it’s a tourist guide without the bullshit, and that’s what I like about it so please drop by her chunk of the Internet and have a hearty laugh at her expense (buttons forthcoming). Also, Smoth Loves Movies will go back to a regular updating basis by next weekend, I was told, with a new layout and many new things (one of them is me being the new co-host of their signature podcast, I take it) so please go back in there and check up on Marco’s take on all things celluloid. Aside from The Bastardizer, the video game blog on the network covering all things on consoles we’ll have another one in Spanish which we’ll set up this week if all goes well; this one’s ambitious, and from the looks of it it’ll be a hit so look for it later this week. While all of this happens, Reyca TV’s sitting on my coffee table waiting for me to give her some loving. Hopefully that’ll go up as well next month but we’ll have to see since I’ve become somewhat of a busy man as of late. Of course, aside from yours truly’s site Daigoro’s going full steam, changing its release format somewhat by making it one theme a day. It started this week, and in the coming weeks you’ll see the pattern forming while I create a new header for the site outlining the new structure. Finally, the toddler of the group, Luis Romero’s blog, one of the most awesome artists I know on his life as a college student. It’s an awesome read and please for all that’s holy go for the stories and stay for the art. His skills really are astonishing. If all goes well, hopefully he’ll get rid of his obligations swimmingly and we’ll start production on a webcomic I’ve had in my head for quite a while…. fingers are crossed.
Now that the Porto Diao pimping is over, I leave you be. Please be safe, and if you’re going to Santiago seek my ass out. I’ll be the guy with the beer. Talk to you on Monday!
